IE partners with Future Earth + Usal On Earth Sessions in Los Angeles
NOVEMBER 7, 2022 – United States – On November 13, Intersectional Environmentalist (IE), Future Earth (FE) and Usal will co-host the seventh Earth Sessions event from an ongoing series of community-driven environmental justice concerts. Individually, IE, FE and Usal provide programming to give people the tools, knowledge and skills to address the largest ecological and environmental issues facing our planet. Together, the organizations are united in a mission to create the infrastructure necessary for community-building by coming together at events like Earth Sessions to share wisdom across communities, participate in educational experiences and experience the power of music.
The event will be hosted at TreePeople’s Campus (45-acre park), and will feature a workshop led by Manoj Dias, co-founder of Open - a mindfulness studio built to transform your life. Open's class experiences are guided by leaders in mindfulness, centered on music, and rooted in community. The event will also feature a panel discussion with founders of IE, Future Earth and Usal (Leah Thomas, Max Moinian and Michael Washington), a screenprinting activation, as well as an intimate musical performance from Amaria.
“We are thrilled to foster this joyful space and welcome folx to our manifestation of a future rooted in environmental justice, resistance, joy, art, and advocacy through Earth Sessions,” said IE Director of Programming, Kiana Kazemi.
The previous six sold-out Earth Sessions events invited artist-activists including Raveena, Xiuhtezcatl and Bedouine, and spotlighted BIPOC-led nonprofit organizations including The Hood Hikers, Harlem Grown, and Good Life Garden. In its inaugural year, Earth Sessions reached over 1M folks online and in person, and has given away more than 600 books and educational resources.
We extend a massive thank you to our sponsors and partners, Allbirds, Open and TreePeople, as well as Alter Eco, Better Booch, Alfred Coffee, Goodfair and Pulp Pantry for supporting IE’s programmatic vision and helping bring Earth Sessions to life.
